Life without Music is like Facebook without Notifications.

I by no means have the greatest taste in music, but I feel as though I can usually tell when something sounds pleasing to the ears......maybe.
Anyway, one of my favorite things is when others do covers of popular songs, and especially when those covers maybe even sound better than the original.

And you may disagree with me, but I'm the one with the blog so...

10.  Fast Car- Boyce Avenue
This actually doesn't sound too different from the original, but I'm just obsessed with this cover. I like that they made it a duet. I dig it.

Original: Tracy Chapman

9. E.T. - Tyler Ward
I love me some Katy Perry, but come on. Cutie McCute Cute over here just sounds adorable with his little guitar and twinkly lights. I wouldn't mind comin' home to this kid serenading me.

Original: Katy Perry

8. Crazy in Love- Emeli Sande
I get it, it's the Queen Bey and no one is better than the almighty Beyonce........but I like this version better. Probably because it's a jazzy rendition, and it just sounds better. Sorry, not sorry.

Original: Beyonce

7. Smells Like Teen Spirit- Paul Anka
In this case I am in no way saying that this is necessarily better than the original, because the original is flawless and it's amazing. I simply like the jazzy-ness of this cover and how it sounds like a completely different song. So don't freak out 90's kids, Kurt Cobain is still the Grunge King.

Original: Nirvana

6. The Scientist- Holly Henry
Gorgeous. And flawless. Heard this girl on The Voice and became obsessed with this cover. I love her voice and I have no idea at this point if she won on the show, but she should have. Love it.

Original: Coldplay

5. Wonderwall- Ryan Adams
Another song where I can't say it sounds BETTER than the original, but it's pretty close. It's just...sooooo good.

Original: Oasis

4. Whatever You Like- Anya Marina
So. Freaking. Good. This one is way better than the original. It just sounds sexier. And if you disagree; you're wrong.

Original: T.I.

3. We Can't Stop- Scott Bradlee Ft. Postmodern Jukebox
Anyone who can make a Miley Cyrus song sound even the least bit classy deserves an award or something. Clearly you can probably tell I have a thing for the jazz/vintage sounding music, but this one is just amazeballs.

Original: Miley Cyrus

2. Once Upon a Dream- Lana Del Rey
It's reported that apparently Angelina Jolie handpicked Miss Lana to make this cover for her movie, Maleficent, and if that's true then maybe Angelina isn't as terrible as I thought.(Still not over the Brad and Jen break-up.) This version is so dark and creepy and just fan-freaking-tastic.

Original:

1. Hurt- Johnny Cash
Because it's Johnny Cash. Lesbehonest. Need I go on?

Original: Nine Inch Nails

You're welcome for this musical enlightenment. Now go buy yourself some new songs and go have a dance party.
